MANILA - The United States Embassy donated various police equipment to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Wednesday.
In a statement Thursday, PNP director for logistics, Maj. Gen. Angelito Casimiro, said the US Embassy's Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Office of Anti-Terrorism Assistance (DS/ATA), led by regional security officer Stephen Lesniak turned over 18 sets of Cellebrite and 57 units of laptop computers to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
Meanwhile, four units of Ford Ranger, six units of bomb suit, five units logo scanner and veterinary equipment/aircon/clinic renovation were given to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal K9 Group EOD/K9.
One unit of Ford Ranger, six units of Harris Radio, tactical medicine kits, crisis response team equipment, advance crisis response team equipment, and first response to medical stabilization kits were donated to the Special Action Force (SAF).
Casimiro, who represented PNP chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, thanked the US for its gesture of generosity and unwavering support.
"While the security and welfare of the people rely on the number of police officers in the field, we are also putting more teeth to better deliver efficient and effective police service across the country with the help of our stakeholders and partners like the US Embassy. Thus, this kind of gesture strengthens the capacity of every police officer by upgrading their equipment for effective police operations," Casimiro said during the ceremony.
Among those who witnessed the event were Ronald Allan Dizon, Resident Program Manager, DS/ATA of the US Embassy, and the Directors of PNP Logistics Support Service, ACG, EOD/K9 Group, and SAF.
Through a deed of donation instrument, the equipment have been officially recorded in the police force's property book. (PNA)
