WASHINGTON, D.C.: Google said that hackers are targeting corporate executives with extortion emails, claiming to have stolen sensitive data from Oracle's widely used business software.
The technology giant said in a statement that the messages appear linked to cl0p, a notorious ransomware gang, and are being sent to executives across multiple organizations. The emails assert that attackers have extracted confidential information from Oracle's E-Business Suite, a platform companies use to manage everything from supply chains to accounting.
Google said it was monitoring the campaign but stressed that it had not confirmed whether the hackers' claims were real. "We do not currently have sufficient evidence to definitively assess the veracity of these claims," the company said.
The group behind the emails has not commented, and Oracle did not respond to requests for comment.
