China has spent over three quarters of a century transforming from a poor, agricultural backwater to a global economic powerhouse. At the heart of this meteoric rise lies a key policy instrument: the Five-Year Plans.
Since the early 1950s, China has charted its progress into 14 planning cycles, with the blueprint for the 15th set to be introduced this October.
